Book Blog is where the students can blog about a finished AR or Literature Circle book so other students can read it and make the decision themselves to read that particular book or not. Students are encouraged to write a brief summary (no spoilers) of the book and an opinion of it.
The platform we are using is kidblog, which allows for each student to have a username and a password. All posts and comments must go through a pending approval by me before it gets published. Enjoy the blogs!

Read the following below before you get started!
Before you click on the publish button the right, please make sure you have followed the guidelines. Here it is below!
Title and author of the book: You need to italicize or underline titles and make sure you capitalize the author’s name because they’re proper nouns.
Summary: Provide a brief summary of what the book is about. Don’t write a really long summary because then it gives information away to our readers. Describe the genre (mystery, biography, fiction, non-fiction, etc.) and an overall description of the plot.
Opinion: Give us an opinion of what you thought the book was! Do you recommend this to others? Rate it on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the greatest thing ever!). Who would enjoy this type of book?
Proofread: Make sure you reread your post before publish because others will be reading this. You don’t want to make silly mistakes so check your grammar, spelling, and punctuation. This is made public to many others so they will be reading this!
Here is an example of what a review might look like for Number the Stars:
Number the Stars is a suspenseful book written by Lois Lowry. It is about the Johansen family helping Ellen Rosen by smuggling her to Sweden to escape the German troops. Ellen Rosen is part of a Jewish family, which are being targeted by German troops to be “relocated” to prison camps. Annemarie, Ellen Rosen’s best friend, must become brave in order to help Ellen escape the terrors of being captured.
This book was very enjoyable to read because I love historical fictions. I would rate this book an 8 out of 10 because it was a worthwhile read, but it’s not the best book that I have ever read. If you are the type of reader that likes action and suspense then this is the novel for you. Trust me, you won’t be able to put it down. If you need more advice about this book before reading it then please come talk to me!

Here are some tips for commenting others’ posts:
1) Be respectful and appropriate. This means that you should write considerate things while still expressing your personal opinions. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but we must respect others.
2) Respond thoughtfully. Don’t just comment with a “cool” or a “awesome” because that doesn’t give proper feedback to the writer. Explain why you think their blog post is “cool” or “awesome”.
3) Ask questions. If you are confused about something that write wrote then ask them to clarify. Ask them certain questions about the book if you want to know the information before reading it!
