· Prior to European exploration, Native American tribes were the only human inhabitants throughout North America.
· There are many migration theories about the origins of early Native American civilizations.
· Native American civilizations developed throughout the Americas, and their customs and ways of living were dictated by the environment.
Unit Objectives:
- Students will be able to understand through investigation various theories about the origins and migration of early Native Americans.
- Students will be able to compare and contrast traditions, customs, values and government of Native American tribes across the various regions of North America.
- Students will understand geographic and climatic impact on Native American ways of life and survival.

Objectives:
- Identify and map the major military battles, campaigns, and turning points of the Revolutionary War, the roles of the American and British leaders, and the Indian leaders’ alliances on both sides.
- Research important battles and create a newspaper using this information.

- We are starting Unit 3 and are learning about The Thirteen Colonies.
- Essential Questions: Why settle? What were the religious, economic, and political reasons for Europeans to leave Europe and settle in North America?
- Students will be starting their research on the New England Colonies, Middle Colonies, and/or Southern Colonies. You can download the file below.
Objectives:
· Students will be able to explain the religious, economic, and political reasons for settling in North America.
· Students will describe how colonists and Native Americans interacted during this period.
· Students will be able to locate different colonies.
· Students will be able to describe the life in a colony during this period.
Parents, please help your child do the researching at home. We have a limited number of laptops in our classroom so many of the students will not have a laptop to use to do research on their explorer. So please help your child at home to do the necessary research and/or take them to the public library. This will allow them to analyze the information in class in the form of highlighting, summarizing key facts, and asking me questions.
Videos are also great resources for this project. I will include several links below as possible resources.
