This idiom means that his opportunity is either going up or down. In this case I think it means he is going up. I think this because his whole story was about him in music and how he went higher in opportunity with his music. That is why I think "going to go places." means that his fame and opportunity.

Duke Ellington knew he was going to go places, this idiom means that he knew he was going to be a famous musician someday. He loved music since he was a young boy and knew that if he was dedicated to playing the piano he would be successful. Duke did go places and was a famous Ragtime and Jazz musician that was even heard on the radio.

It means he knew what he was doing. Like when you know where your going you know what to do and how to get there. Another way to explain that is when you leave you have know what to do if your going places. Also another. Way to explain is when you go away you have to know what to do to het back. So that is what I think that idiom is.

I think that the idiom "going to go places" means that he knew what was going to happiness the future. He really dedicated being a pianist. He even tries to get a band and tries his best so in the future he would be successful like he predicted in the first place.

The saying isn't realy saying that he felt he was going to go to hawii or some thing it means that he felt that he was going to succsed in life. I figured this out because through out the artical it say many good thing about his life and that is has been a good life. Another thing that helped me was when it said going to places I knew that he wasn't literly going some where almost every one goes somewere in there life. That is what I think about the saying going somewere.

I think that it means that he knew that he was going to travel to put on shows. It my also mean that he could do things in the future and that he would be big. It can also mean that he could be doing better in the band.

I think that the underlined idiom means that he would get more and more popular. I know this because in the original pharaghraph, he wanted to get popular in music. In the story, he does go places and gets popular.

I think the idiom means he will do big things in the future. I think this because he seemed like a person who was dedicated to his work, and wanted to do big things. He went on tours with his band; and his solo career. These are some reasons why I think the idiom means he will do big things.

I think that this idiom means that he will face many up and downs in life. Because some people who get famous become really not nice and have been rude to people in the past. I think it also means that he will go many different places too because It also means that he will maybe have a lot of different things to do in his life. That is what I think the idiom means.

I think it means the music will take him in a new place. What that means is you flow with the music and you feel the words come to life.

Idiom means that "Ellington know that he was going to go places to preform or do show's". I know this because in the text it said that "Ellington went outside and saw his next-door neighbor so he went to go tell Mr. Pinn that one of these day Im going to be famous". So this is how I know what idiom means.
